Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I pay a broker fee to rent through Mena Realty?
On listings where we represent the landlord, no broker fee is charged to you, the tenant, under the NYC FARE Act. Any tenant-paid costs are disclosed on the listing.

Do you work with housing vouchers?
Yes. Tell us which program you hold and we match you privately. To protect against source-of-income discrimination, public listings don’t advertise which programs they accept.

What’s tenant representation, and when would I want it?
It’s when you hire us to search the whole rental market on your behalf and negotiate for you. See our Find Your Apartment page.

Do I need an attorney to buy or sell in NYC?
Yes — real estate transactions in New York involve attorneys. We coordinate with yours throughout.

What areas do you serve?
We’re Bronx-based and work across all five boroughs of New York City.
